New multi-functional sports hall at LGS Stoneygate for sport, education, and community use.
We were appointed to deliver a new single-storey, multi-functional sports hall at Leicester Grammar School (LGS) Stoneygate, creating a high-quality environment for sport, physical education, teaching, and wider community use.
The facility includes a spacious sports hall, supported by a dedicated plant room, storage areas, and modern toilet and changing facilities. Designed as an extension to the existing school, the development also incorporates a new entrance foyer, providing seamless access between the sports hall, main school building, and surrounding outdoor areas. The project was constructed on a former hard play surface, maximising the use of existing space.
The building features a steel frame structure, complemented by external rainscreen cladding and a built-up roof system, delivering both durability and a contemporary finish. External works formed a key part of the scheme, including new access routes, soft landscaping, and the installation of a ground-level enclosure for an air source heat pump.
Designed in line with Sport England guidance and fully DDA compliant, the facility provides an inclusive and flexible environment. It now supports PE lessons, co-curricular activities, training sessions, and community events, reflecting the school’s commitment to enhancing both education and local engagement.
