School Expansion & Refurbishment

YMD Boon has delivered two major improvement projects for Thrussington C of E Primary School, securing both Education Funding Agency (EFA) and Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) funding to enhance and expand the school’s facilities.

The first project involved a full remodelling and extension of the existing school. This provided three new classrooms, a library, ICT suite, staff facilities, reception area, and ancillary spaces, transforming the teaching environment and supporting the school’s long-term growth.

Building on the success of this scheme, we were later appointed to manage the demolition of an ageing modular building and design and deliver a new purpose-built school hall. The new facility includes a kitchen, storage areas, toilets, and a flexible hall space for assemblies, performances, and community use.

Located within a conservation area, the project required a sensitive architectural approach. We worked closely with the local authority and community through consultation sessions to ensure the design respected its setting, using complementary materials and forms that blend seamlessly with the existing school buildings.
