YMD Boon has supported St George’s Academy, a secondary school with a sixth form in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, with successful Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) bids for over five years. During this time, we have secured funding for a range of capital improvement projects, including boiler replacements, fire safety upgrades, and roof renewal works across the campus.
We were initially appointed to prepare CIF bids to address failing boilers and mechanical systems that had caused persistent heating issues and, at times, block closures. The existing plant was inefficient and prone to leaks, highlighting the urgent need for replacement.
Following funding approval, we managed each scheme through to completion. Works have included the installation of high-efficiency condensing boilers, new pressurisation systems, upgraded controls and control panels, circulating pumps, valves, and flue arrangements. All systems were designed to comply with current Building Regulations, improve reliability, increase energy efficiency, and reduce both carbon emissions and ongoing maintenance costs.
Since the 2021/22 round, we have secured approximately £400,000 to upgrade boilers, mechanical plant, and control systems across the Humanities and Westholme Block, the main school building, and the English Block. These phased improvements have delivered a resilient, efficient heating infrastructure across the Academy.
